Website hosting

Managed hosting with daily backups, monitoring and a Spanish mobile number — built to hold up on the busiest week of your year.

Hosting is the one part of your website that has to work every day without anyone thinking about it. We take that responsibility away entirely: fast, monitored infrastructure with automatic backups, sized so that the week in August when half of Europe decides to visit at once doesn't take you offline.

A real example

Seafood restaurant in Nerja · twenty covers, two sittings, open all year

What they were doing

Every August the site fell over, and every August the owner assumed it was the kitchen. It wasn't. A gallery plugin was pulling six megabytes of photographs onto the home page, and the booking form was querying the reservations database once per visitor.

What we set up

Rebuilt the home page around a small, fast, current gallery; moved the booking form to talk to the reservations system directly instead of through it; and moved the hosting to managed infrastructure with a real capacity ceiling for August rather than a plan sized for February.

What changed

August came and went without an outage. More to the point, the site stopped costing them bookings on the days when the terrace was full and the queue for a table was at its longest.

Worth knowing: Hosting wasn't the whole story — two thirds of the improvement came from deleting things. Any owner who tells us their site 'just needs more hosting' should let us look at what's actually on the page first.

Where AI fits alongside hosting — which is mostly nowhere

Honestly, less than the marketing implies. Alerts and uptime checks are already automated, and no amount of machine learning keeps a server switched on. The one place it earns its keep is reading what an error log or a run of failed logins is telling you — turning two hundred lines of noise into 'someone tried this at two in the morning and here is what they wanted'. If reading logs isn't your problem, skip it.

Cheap hosting is the expensive kind

The gap between hosting we trust and the cheapest plan on the market is a handful of euros a month. The gap the first time something fails is your business being dark while you work out who to call. We'd rather have that conversation now, about which host you're on and what happens when the database is full at six on a Tuesday in August, than have it during the worst weekend of your year.

The August test

Ask any coastal business what happens to their website in the middle of August and you usually get the same answer: it holds, mostly. Mostly is doing a lot of work in that sentence. Traffic on this coast is not a gentle curve. It's a flat winter line, then a cliff in July and August, when a booking page takes four hundred simultaneous visitors, a gallery loads twenty megabytes of photographs, and an enquiry form tries to send forty emails in a row. Hosting that was fine in February is not automatically fine in that week — and that week is the one that matters.

Backups we've actually restored from

Plenty of providers promise backups. Rather fewer can produce a working restore when you need one at eleven on a Sunday night. Ours are automated, kept on separate infrastructure from the site itself so a compromised server can't take them with it — and we've restored from them, because an untested backup is only a hope.

Where the data sits matters

We keep sites on European infrastructure where we can, because that keeps things simpler under the GDPR and the Spanish LSSI rules when you're collecting bookings, guest details or clinic information. It also removes a class of awkward question from a conversation with a Spanish customer who has every reason to ask where their data went.

Security included, not itemised

SSL, sensible headers, and a platform that gets updated on schedule. A surprising number of small business sites fall over because they were left running last year's software and nobody was ever a target — it's opportunistic, not a campaign, and it happens to the quietest sites on the internet. None of that belongs on a separate invoice line.

Somewhere sensible, with someone accountable

We can move you onto our hosting, or take care of the host you've already got if there's a good reason to stay. What matters is that a person who understands your site is answerable for it, rather than a ticket queue whose opening question is always which plan you're on.

What’s included

  • Fast, managed hosting sized for a coastal peak
  • SSL and sensible security headers included
  • Daily backups, kept off-server and actually tested
  • Monitoring that tells us before it tells you
  • A Spanish mobile number when something's wrong

Why it matters

  • No more lying awake wondering whether it's up
  • Pages that load on a phone, on the move, on Spanish data
  • One fewer thing on a list that's already too long

Often useful alongside this

  • Website maintenance which sits naturally on top of hosting — updates, backups and someone to ring.
  • Website design if the hosting is fine but the site itself is what's holding you back.

Common questions

Must I move my hosting to you?
Not at all. If the host you've got is doing a decent job we'll say so and look after the site there anyway. We'd only suggest a move if the current arrangement is genuinely costing you speed or uptime.
What happens if the site goes down?
Our monitoring wakes us up and we deal with it. That is the whole point of managed hosting — you find out because we're already logged in and fixing it, not because a customer found it for you.
Is my domain included?
No, and it should be registered in your own name. That's what makes the domain genuinely yours, and it means you can move it anywhere in future without asking anyone's permission.
Does my email come across too?
Yes, when it's done properly. The DNS records are set up and tested before anything points at the new host, and we check your mail afterwards as part of the job rather than assuming it worked.
